BYU students, including many in the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program, recently competed for $12,000 in funding in the Student Innovator of the Year Competition. The winning team, PORTAL (formerly Piero), took home $6,000 for their design of a Bluetooth-enabled system for automatically opening doors when a wheelchair user with their app approaches.
